Setback to Mayawati as BSP MP quits party and joins BJP ahead of LS polls

BSP MP from Ghazipur Afzal Ansari defected to the SP last month. Pandey, who had won the Ambedkar Nagar Lok Sabha seat by defeating BJP's Mukut Bihari by nearly a lakh votes in the 2019 elections, joined the BJP in New Delhi in the presence of UP deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, BJP UP chief Bhupendra Chaudhury and party's incharge Baijayant Panda.
Reacting to the development, BSP chief Mayawati said all her party MPs must introspect if they looked after the people in their constituencies and gave them time.
