Rising no. of e-rickshaws a traffic menace

E-RICKSHAWS seem to have become a preferred mode of transport in many areas across the national capital.

Usually working as last-mile connectivity, they can be seen on arterial routes or major roads connecting important places, and even on high-speed corridors. In most areas, the battery-powered vehicles don't follow any rules. And with their number going up, they have become a traffic nightmare even though there are guidelines in place. Chances of accidents remain high as these vehicles can be seen parked in the middle of a road, in complete violation of traffic rules.

What is more worrying is that these e-rickshaws board more passengers, especially school children, than their capacity, thereby raising the chances of accidents. Often parked in the vicinity of metro stations, bus stands, malls, commercial complexes, they are common causes of traffic woes and commuters' hardship.
