Punjab highway projects stuck as farmers' stir hits land acquisition

The Authority is implementing 37 projects in the state with an aggregate length of 1,344 km at an estimated cost of over ₹50,000 crore.

Sources said NHAI has yet again taken up the issue with the state government and wrote to Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha seeking directions to concerned administrative and police officials to extend necessary help to the agency in getting possession of land parcels for executing work on the stalled projects.

Of particular importance is executing already-delayed work on three stretches of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway.
