PM, Didi hit Cooch Behar battlefield

WEST Bengal's Cooch Behar became the battleground of the titans in the political fray for the Lok Sabha elections due April 19 in the first phase of the seven-round polling.
In a rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the Sandeshkhali violence saying that under the Trinamool rule, women's life and honour were at stake.
In another rally a few kilometers away, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called the BJP candidate and Union minister of state for home Nisith Pramanik a "TMC discard" for his alleged anti-social activities. She the Centre was using its investigating agencies to malign the image of opposition party leaders.
The PM said the country saw how the TMC tried to save the culprits of the Sandeshkhali incident. "But the BJP's focus is how to empower women. The culprits of Sandeshkhali will spend their lives in jail," PM Modi said, adding only BJP can stop the injustice against women of Bengal."
