Manoj Verma, anti-Maoist ops expert, new Kolkata Police chief

COUNTER-insurgency and anti-Maoist operations specialist, senior IPS officer Manoj Kumar Verma, is the new commissioner of Kolkata Police, replacing Vineet Goyal.

According to a Bengal government notification on Tuesday, the reshuffle of officials also took place in the health department. The changes came a day after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met the agitating junior doctors.
Goyal, a 1994 batch officer who was under fire over handling of the rape and murder of the doctor at the RG Kar Hospital, was made the ADG and IGP of West Bengal Police's Special Task Force (STF).
