Metabolic syndrome, often referred to as insulin resistance syndrome, is a cluster of conditions, including high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, increased blood sugar, and excess abdominal fat, that collectively raise the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
