Jaishankar gives terror masterclass to Canada

Says respect for a nation's territorial integrity can't be cherry-picked

EXTERNAL Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday called out the selective approach of nations on terrorism, in what was particularly seen as a stinging attack on Canada that recently blamed India for killing its national, who was a Khalistani terrorist.

"Political convenience determines responses to terrorism, extremism and violence. Similarly, respect for territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs cannot be exercises in cherry picking. When reality departs from rhetoric, we must have the courage to call it out. Without genuine solidarity, there can never be real trust. This is very much the sentiment of the Global South," said Jaishankar in his address at the annual UN General Assembly session in New York.
