India, Oman to strengthen ties in 10 key areas

Both countries look at early conclusion of Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, consensus on key issues

INDIA and Oman reviewed the entire range of bilateral relations with each other during the ongoing State visit of the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tarik, to India.
The talks ranged from concluding the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to furthering partnership in defence, trade and even cricket. Last month, Oman qualified for T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the US.
“We had an excellent meeting and reviewed the entire range of our bilateral ties. We discussed ways to deepen cooperation in defence, commerce, culture and innovation,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
While Modi had visited Oman in 2018, this is the first State visit from the Sultan of Oman after a gap of 26 years.
