DMK's clean sweep gives 40 MPs to INDIA bloc

THE '400 par' dream of the BJP has not turned out to be true but the 40/40 (naarpathum namathe) slogan of DMK chief MK Stalin seems to have resonated with the voters on the ground as the DMK-led INDIA bloc swept the Lok Sabha elections by winning all the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat in Puducherry on Tuesday.

The DMK-led United Progressive Alliance had last won all 40 seats in 2004.
The DMK bloc has bettered its performance compared to 2019 when it lost Theni seat alone to AIADMK and emerged victorious in 38 seats.
