The Morning Standard
|October 23, 2024
AS many as 35 of the 66 BJP candidates in the Jharkhand Assembly polls are turncoats, upsetting the party workers who say their credibility is being doubted within the party. Besides, many of the close relatives of some top politicians have managed to get tickets, putting BJP workers in a tight spot over their plank of dynastic politics.
In the first list of 66 candidates, the party has given the nomination to Purnima Das Sahu, the daughter-in-law of former CM Raghubar Das; Meera Munda, the wife of Arjun Munda; Babulal Soren, the son of Champai Soren; Roshan Lal, the brother of CP Choudhary, who joined the BJP hours before the announcement of candidates and Satrughan Mahato, brother of BJP MP Dhullu Mahto.
