Census: Centre unveils 33-point questionnaire for 1st phase of headcount

THE Registrar General of India (RGI) and the Census Commissioner on Thursday unveiled the official questionnaire for the first phase of the 2027 census—the house-listing part, marking a significant step toward the next decennial headcount.
The initial phase, which will commence on April 1 this year, will use a detailed 33-point questionnaire designed to capture updated information reflecting changes in Indian society since the last census was conducted in 2011.
The questionnaire, which was notified on Thursday, primarily focuses on housing-related details, beginning with the location and nature of the respondent’s place of residence.
