Budget to boost nuclear power sector

THE Budget has given a boost to nuclear power, with the finance minister announcing an extension of exemption on imports of goods required for nuclear power projects until 2035.
The move comes after the SHANTI (Sustainable Harnessing of Advancement of Nuclear Technology for India) legislation, which allows private players to enter the nuclear energy sector. India currently operates 24 nuclear reactors with a combined capacity of 8,780 MW as of 2025. Nuclear power contribute
