Five labourers die after getting trapped in flash flood Incessant rains spell trouble for many tourists in Rajasthan & Uttarakhand
TRAGEDY struck a family on its way to attend a wedding in Nawanshahr of Punjab from Una in Himachal Pradesh when nine of its members were swept away along with their SUV following a sudden flooding of a rivulet near Jejon town of Punjab's Hoshiarpur district, police sources said.
One person is missing while another has been rescued.
In another incident, five labourers died in Himachal after being trapped in a flash flood in Bathu Bathri industrial area of Una district. The industrial area has suffered damage to properties worth more than Rs 100 crore due to flash floods.
Due to heavy rains, a flood-like developed in the local rivulet in Bathu Bathri area. The water entered the industrial units located along the rivulet and thus caused massive damage.
Five persons living in a slum near the rivulet were killed after being trapped in the flash flood.
