Modi announces extension of the scheme; claims 13.5 cr lifted from poverty line in 5 yrs
PRIME Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday topped up the BJP's 'Modi ki guarantee' manifesto in poll-bound Chhattisgarh by announcing the extension of the free food grains scheme by five more years to 80 crore poor people across India.
He made the announcement at a BJP rally in Durg district.
"The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMKAY) that provides free ration to 80 crore poor is scheduled to conclude in December this year. It will now be extended for the next five years," the prime minister said.
