1st phase of Census to start on April 1 with house survey

Enumerators will visit households to obtain data on basic amenities
THE Centre on Wednesday notified the first phase of the Census of India 2027, involving houselisting operations between April and September 2026, followed by population enumeration in 2027.
As per the formal notification, state and Union Territory governments will carry out House Listing and Housing Census from April 1, 2026, to September 30. This phase records only details about houses and basic amenities.
