JOELINTON BLOW OPENS DOOR FOR TRIO
JOELINTON’S untimely knee injury has unexpectedly opened the door for the trio of Newcastle United mid-fielders who have patiently waited in the wings for their opportunity in this team of late.
After a season dominated by the Brazilian, his fellow countryman Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, it is now time for Joe Willock, Lewis Miley or Sean Longstaff to step up.
Harvey Barnes is proof that you can come in from the cold and grab your opportunity under Eddie Howe. The winger, a deputy for Anthony Gordon for the majority of his time on Tyneside, is now flourishing after a run of games in this side from the outset.
Willock was afforded the opportunity to stake his claim in Saturday's 3-0 win over Ipswich Town but endured a frustrating afternoon as he was targeted by Tractor Boys captain Sam Morsy. The ex-Arsenal man lasted 67 minutes before he was replaced by Miley in the middle of the park.
