United switch focus to central attack targets

WILSON EXIT LEAVES FRONTLINE VACANCY
AFTER wrapping up a deal for Anthony Elanga, Newcastle will turn their attention to a central attacking option capable of competing with Alexander Isak.
The exit of Callum Wilson has opened up a prime spot in Eddie Howe's squad and potential replacements have been shortlisted in recent months.
Ollie Watkins and Hugo Ekitike represent two attractive options - but both would come at a premium during this particular window.
Another contender is Brentford's Yoane Wissa. At 28, he represents an older option compared to United's recent desired age profile, but with 19 Premier League goals to his name last season alone, few would grumble about a move for the Congolese forward.
Brentford value Wissa at £50m this summer amid interest from Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur.
Newcastle have already showed their intent to spend a figure of that nature on a backup forward after their failed pursuit of Joao Pedro earlier this summer.
