TWO people were rescued from the Holy Island Causeway after a delivery van broke down.

Seahouses RNLI was called at around 2.45pm on Tuesday to reports of two people in a broken down delivery vehicle.

The causeway was being flooded by a rising tide expected to be 4.7m in height, with the vehicle and people inside stranded and in need of urgent assistance.

A spokesperson for Seahouses RNLI said: “Within minutes our crew arrived on station, kitted up and launched the Lifeboat from Seahouses Harbour slipway, whilst en route updates were passed that multiple other assets from Seahouses Coastguard Rescue Team and Berwick Coastguard rescue team were also making best speed to the scene.
