RELATIVE of Northumberland heroine Grace Darling hopes to channel his distant ancestor in a global rowing competition.

Adam Wilson is one of many rowers from across the globe training for SkiffieWorlds 2025, described as the highlight of the competitive coastal rowing calendar.
The 18-year-old hopes his family connection to the Victorian heroine will see his teams win gold.
In a story written into North East folklore, in 1838 Grace Darling and her father William rowed over a mile during a storm to the wreck of the Forfarshire steamship in the Farne Islands. Across two trips, they were able to save nine lives in their small coble.
Keen rower Adam discovered a family connection to Grace while researching his family tree.
