A CHILD remains in a critical condition in hospital after getting into difficulty in the sea.
-
On Thursday afternoon, emergency services and rescue teams came to the aid of a teenage girl at Whitley Bay beach.
A major rescue operation was launched and the child was able to be recovered to shore, where she received medical attention before being airlifted to hospital.
Yesterday, Northumbria Police confirmed that the girl remains in hospital in a critical condition, and officers continue to support her next of kin.
Itwas around 4.20pm on Thursday when the HM Coastguard was alerted to the incident at the coast near Spanish City car park.
