Rigg and Cats riding 'wave of togetherness'
The Journal
|May 20, 2025
DYNAMIC teenager Chris Rigg believes Sunderland's unity and belief have powered them to Wembley.
The 17-year-old has been the epitome of a good team-mate having been left out of the starting XI for both legs of the Championship play-off semi-final against Coventry City.
And he insists the focus is now firmly on completing the journey and for Sunderland to make it to the Premier League.
Regis Le Bris’ side will take on Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final on Saturday (3pm) with a place in the Premier League on the line.
The Black Cats booked their spot under the Wembley arch after a dramatic 3-2 aggregate win over Coventry City last Tuesday. And while Rigg described the semi-final as the best night of his life so far, his attention has already shifted to the challenge ahead.
