Rayner's praise over school closure

THE Deputy Prime Minister has praised a Northumberland community for the response to the closure of a local school.

Speaking at Deputy Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday, Angela Rayner - standing in for Sir Keir Starmer - said she ‘couldn't imagine’ the difficulties faced by students at Prudhoe High School and their parents.
It followed a question from Hexham MP Joe Morris, who described the closure - in place since February - as an “incredibly destabilising time”.
The school building was closed on safety grounds after cracks were discovered in the nine-year-old structure.
