The Journal
|January 15, 2026
HIGH gold prices have helped Ramsdens deliver record results as its CEO laid out plans for expansion of the 168-store chain.
Ramsdens CEO Peter Kenyon
The pawnbroker, foreign currency and jewellery retailer saw revenue grow 22% to £116.8m in the year to the end of September 2025 as operating profit rose from £12.4m to £17m and pretax profits grew 43% from £11.4m to £16.2m.
Bosses highlighted a strong performance in the firm's purchase of precious metals segment - thanks to sustained high gold prices where gross profit rose 52% to £17.9m.
Meanwhile the pawnbroking operation saw a 9% uplift in gross profit to £12.7m with most of the growth in its loan book coming in the second half of the year.
That momentum is said to have continued into the first quarter of 2026 with record lending levels seen month-on-month across the quarter.
