THE summer window is beginning to heat up for Newcastle United.

As the first of two summer deadlines draws closer, it is clear the Magpies are making concrete moves to bolster Eddie Howe's ranks.

In the last few days, in light of Bryan Mbeumo's decision to join Manchester United, Newcastle have been credited with serious interest in both Joao Pedro and Anthony Elanga as the Magpies search for a marquee signing early in the window.

Both aforementioned forwards would undoubtedly improve Howe's side and would be welcomed to St James' Park by almost all supporters.

Pedro is a versatile forward, who can play through the middle or on the left. Elanga is a pacy, hungry right-sided forward who could be seen as a potential starter from the off. Throw in a right-sided central defender and a goalkeeper to rival Nick Pope and you're laughing, right?

Maybe Marc Guehi and James Trafford as the duo to fill those slots in Howe's defensive unit? Newcastle would be well equipped to fight on all four fronts should that quartet arrive in the North East.
