Oldham-bound Hannant becomes latest to join Heed exodus

GATESHEAD have confirmed Luke Hannant has become the latest player to leave the club after he accepted an offer to join League Two newcomers Oldham Athletic.
The versatile wing-back initially joined the Heed during Neil Aspin’s managerial reign in 2016 after impressing during a trial spell at the International Stadium and has become a firm fans’ favourite over two spells on the south bank of the Tyne.
His performances during his first stint were enough to land a professional contract that laid the foundations for a career that would see Hannant go on to feature in the EFL with the likes of Port Vale, Cambridge United and Colchester United.
After returning to Tyneside in August 2023, Hannant helped Gateshead lift the FA Trophy with a Wembley win over Solihull Moors in May 2024, and landed a trio of awards at the club's end-of-season awards night last month after producing a string of impressive performances throughout the campaign.
