Off-road bike clampdown

POLICE have carried out a “day of action” targeting anti-social behaviour (ASB) across Sunderland.

Officers headed to the Herrington Country Park area after members of the public had reported people speeding around on off-road bikes.

Northumbria Police make clear on their website that while quad bikes, three-wheeled bikes, trail bikes and some other two-wheeled vehicles are built for off-road use, it is against the law to ride them in public parks or on publicly-owned land without permission.

The motorbike disorder team Op Capio were out in the popular biking spot with Sunderland's Neighbourhood Policing team and achieved notable results.
