New faces needed at Heed, says Armstrong
The Journal
|August 15, 2025
ALUN Armstrong is hoping to add at least one new face to his Gateshead squad ahead of this weekend’s long trip to National League rivals Eastleigh.
-
The Heed boss was left angry when his managerial reign got underway with a deeply disappointing performance and result in last weekend’s 3-0 home defeat against Southend United.
Armstrong admitted he needed to add further experience to his ranks in the aftermath of the opening day loss and has continued to work hard in recent days to try and make a breakthrough.
The former Darlington and Blyth Spartans manager ran the rule over a versatile defender in Wednesday night’s National League Cup loss against Newcastle United Under-21s, and is hoping to bring in further experience over the coming days.
