New deal keeps ferry maintenance on Tyne

THE Shields Ferry will remain serviced and maintained on the River Tyne thanks to a new three-year agreement.
-
It means that essential work on the vessels will continue to be carried out in South Tyneside until at least 2028.
The agreement is with UK Docks Marine Services, a family owned and operated company which delivers a range of services in the maritime sector. The ferry operator Nexus runs two ferries on the cross-Tyne route, the Pride of the Tyne and the Spirit of the Tyne.
