N Ireland £1m Olympics boost

OLYMPICS A £1million Olympic Legacy Fund has been announced to modernise facilities across Northern Ireland. It comes after the region's most successful Olympics, in Paris last year, with the netting of four gold medals, a silver and two bronzes.

The gold medal winners included swimmers Daniel Wiffen and Jack McMillan, gymnast Rhys McClenaghan and rower Hannah Scott.
Their achievements were celebrated at a homecoming gig at the SSE Arena in Belfast last October.
On Tuesday, Stormont Communities Minister Gordon Lyons said the fund builds on the previous £100,000 Olympic Medallist Fund.
