Metro hits car at level crossing

TYNE and Wear Metro train was involved in a crash with a car at a level crossing in Newcastle.

The scene after a collision involving a Metro train and a car at Callerton Parkway

The collision happened yesterday morning on Callerton Lane, with the emergency services called to the scene.

A car could be seen being lifted from the scene, alongside a stationary Metro train.

No one is believed to have sustained any serious injuries. One person was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary by the ambulance service for further treatment.
