Marine repairs and sales unite in one new base

MARITIME business Marine Chandlery has expanded its operations with the acquisition of Powerhouse Marine Ltd.
North Shields-based Marine Chandlery was formed last year after snapping up longstanding business Storrar Marine out of liquidation after it fell victim to rising costs.
Storrar Marine had originally been launched as a sail loft in North Shields more than 50 years ago, but expanded to include chandlery, to sell supplies for boats and ships.
It also operated a website, meaning it had extended its reach around the UK by the time it called in liquidators.
New owner and managing director Geoff Moore opened the renamed Marine Chandlery in June, 2024 and its new base at the Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate in North Shields, where it is becoming a destination for marine enthusiasts and industry professionals.
