Le Bris must find a way to get Black Cats back up to speed - and quick
The Journal
|April 30, 2025
IT’S difficult for fans to summon up any sort of enthusiasm for Sunderland at the moment as they lurch from one defeat to another.
The latest loss, against Oxford United, was another example of the players lacking any kind of creativity while conceding poor goals at the other end.
It's not a good recipe.
Dare we compare this present situation to Sunderland's end to the last campaign?
The Black Cats scored one goal in their final six matches at the end of last season.
They lost their last three matches without scoring.
More than 44,000 turned up at the Stadium of Light to see the wreckage of a final few games finally come to rest - when they lost 2-0 to Sheffield Wednesday.
Talk about deja vu.
With one major difference, of course.
Regis Le Bris’ side have confirmed a play-off place and their season will continue after this weekend.
The 2034/24 campaign saw Sunderland slump to a lowly 16th in the table having flirted with the play-offs at one stage.
