Is Trump marshalling a private army?
The Journal
|October 09, 2025
AT a marine base in Quantico, Donald “Bone Spurs” Trump and his newly crowned Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, delivered a performance so absurd it made satire obsolete.
The hastily arranged meeting of 800 generals and admirals wasn't about defence or strategy, it was about control.
Trump’s plan to remake the military into his personal army to “fight the enemy within” is nothing short of a blueprint for martial law.
He wasn’t even subtle.
The President ranted that America’s cities should be used as “training grounds’ for troops, as if Minneapolis or Philadelphia were some kind of open-air boot camp for his political revenge fantasies. Soldiers are trained to defend nations, not terrorise their citizens.
Trump, though, seems to think the military exists to punish his enemies and patrol Democratic strongholds.
