(And was Klopp right after all?)

- By SEAN MCCORMICK

NEWCASTLE United saw a two-goal lead evaporate as they drew 2-2 with Chelsea at St James’ Park in the Premier League.

Nick Woltemade’s two goals in the first half put Eddie Howe's side firmly in control at the break but Chelsea fought back in the second half to come away from Tyneside with a point.

Reece James’ 49th-minute free-kick was followed 17 minutes later by a solo-effort from Joao Pedro - who Newcastle tried to sign in the summer - although United can rightly point to a penalty decision going against them in the second half after Anthony Gordon was barged over in the area by Trevor Chalobah.

Here are five things we learned from Newcastle's draw with Chelsea.

Newcastle back up Klopp claim

When Jurgen Klopp was Liverpool boss, he routinely bemoaned the scheduling when a team competing in Europe was handed the Saturday lunchtime slot on TNT Sports.

“I had a discussion the other day with colleagues from my favourite TV channel, which I will definitely never watch again, TNT,” Klopp said last year. “People always say: ‘They pay you! They give money for football. It’s not that, it’s the other way around - football pays them.

“[Broadcasters] have to become a partner of football again and not just the squeezer. That's just a little advice from an old man on the way out. We have to change our approach. It’s a general problem.
