Guiu getting off the mark is a consolation for Le Bris following

The Frenchman made 11 changes to his starting XI, handing debuts to summer signings Nordi Mukiele and Arthur Masuaku.

The visitors started brightly and took the lead when Leo Castledine rifled home a volley from inside the 18-yard box.

On-loan Spanish striker Guiu then netted on his home debut to level the tie as Sunderland rallied in the second 45.

His header, off Milan Aleksić's cross, means all three of Sunderland's forwards - Eliezer Mayenda, Wilson Isidor, and Guiuhave now opened their accounts for the club inside their opening three games of the campaign.

With the scores locked at full-time, the tie went to penalties, where Huddersfield advanced after Lee Nicholls denied Milan Aleksić following 11 successful spot-kicks.
