Gordon has World Cup firmly in sights

ANTHONY Gordon admits he needs to perform for Newcastle United for the rest of this season to secure a place in the England squad for next summer's World Cup.
Gordon opened the scoring against Latvia in Riga on Tuesday night as the Three Lions qualified for next summer's tournament. The goal was just his second for England - and a first since Thomas Tuchel took over from Lee Carsley this year.
He did not start a competitive match under the current head coach until this autumn. However, the Toon forward has now done so in each of their last three games.
