Gibraltar Rock pub reopens after major revamp

LANDMARK Tynemouth pub The Gibraltar Rock has reopened after a refurbishment scheme to transform it into a new bar and restaurant.

The building, which has some of the best coastal views in the North East overlooking Tynemouth Prior and King Edward's Bay, has been closed for more than 18 months after its previous tenants were forced to shut down in December 2023 amid squeezing cost increases.
In February, however, The Journal revealed how property agents had struck a deal with a growing North East hospitality company, which then embarked on a significant refurbishment scheme, opening up areas that have previously been closed off to the public to make the most of its prominent location.
