TONY HENDERSON on how a building devoted to the coal industry will host a conference devoted to clean energy
-
A BUILDING which was once the heart of the Durham coalfield is to host a conference exploring how the county can become a leader in clean energy.
Organised by Durham Energy Institute (DEI) at Durham University, the event will take place on November 3-4 at the listed and newly-restored Redhills building, the home of the Durham Miners' Association.
The conference, which marks 40 years since the end of the 1984/85 miners' strike, will showcase research on how Durham's industrial heritage can drive the region's transformation as a leader in clean energy.
The communities of County Durham will be represented, with intergenerational workshops led by primary school children.
