WE REVISIT SOME OF THE MOST SPOOKTACULAR TITLES TO HIT CONSOLES AS HALLOWEEN DRAWS EVER CLOSER
-

IT’S finally arrived, that magical day when we can embrace our darker sides.
Halloween is all about spooky and kooky fun, and what easier way to get some chills with your thrills than exploring the more macabre side of gaming?
There have been some incredible horror games out over the last few years, offering titles that cater for every type of creepy experience you're craving - be it silly jump scares; heart-pumping tension or scream-out-loud terror.
So if you're seeking a terrifyingly fun experience that will leave you sleeping with the lights on, I suggest you try one of these...
Alien Isolation
(PEGI 18) PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, Switch, PC
There’s a reason this 11-year-old game continues to make everyone's list of scary titles - and that is, it’s genuinely terrifying.
I don’t think I've ever been as afraid as I was hiding in a locker, the sound of panicked breathing in my ear, praying the xenomorph wouldn't find me.
This game teaches you what it feels like to be hunted, as you cower in dark corners and hug the bulkheads of a ruined spaceship in a bid to evade your stalker.
For the truly masochistic, the game’s VR mode brings a whole new level of terror. The xenomorph’s are able to ‘hear’ noise in the real world, so a mistimed ding on your Ring doorbell could be a virtual death knell for you in the game.
What's more, the game's AI studies your gameplay style, and it’s not long before the alien learns your tired old tactic of cowering in a cupboard.
The only thing that could possibly make this game any better would be the inclusion of a Trypanohyncha Ocellus, the adorable little eyeball monster from this year’s Alien Earth series on Disney+.
