In a positive opening, an FA Cup extra preliminary round defeat against Pontefract Collieries still stings for Ferguson as one route to a cup run was ended on home soil - and that is why he is hopeful he side can embark on a more lengthy run in the Vase.

He said: “Everyone wants to have a decent run in the FA Cup or the FA Vase and obviously we got done in the FA Cup at home.
“We have a tough tie lying ahead of us, it's on a 3G so it's on a decent pitch, we do have one or two players missing but we will go and have a real go at them.
