Enforcement notice served on farm playground

A NORTHUMBERLAND farm has been served with an enforcement notice which it says "threatens the core of its mission" to provide an inclusive environment for all.
Whitehouse Farm, near Morpeth, has been ordered to dismantle the cover of its accessible and inclusive playground in a planning row with Northumberland County Council.
A playground has stood on a patch of green belt land at the farm since 1997. When farm bosses wanted to update the playground in 2024, they took the original structure down and submitted a planning application for the playground with a steel-framed building around it.
The application was initially rejected in October 2024, with recommendations to obtain reports from Public Rights of Way and the county ecologist. Whitehouse Farm bosses obtained those and started the construction, but the application was rejected again in February 2025, due to being on green belt land.
