Dismay as lease problem brings down football club

NORTHUMBERLAND football club with a “long and proud history” has folded.
> The former Bedlington Terriers football ground
Bedlington Terriers reached Wembley in the final of the FA Vase in 1999, and plied their trade in the Northern Alliance Second Division following relegation in 2024/25.
The club were locked out of the Dr Pit Welfare Ground in July 2025 after a lease dispute with Northumberland County Council.
The council says that the Terriers occupied the land without a lease - despite the club having played there for more than 50 years.
The Terriers played fixtures at Hirst Park in Ashington for the first half of the current season, but made the decision to fold in the week before Christmas.
