Daryz to reverse French fortunes

The Journal

August 20, 2025

AN AIDAN O’Brien superstar denied France victory in the Juddmonte International 12 months ago, but Daryz can put the record straight this year on the Knavesmire.

It was only City Of Troy that stopped Calandagan triumphing at York and in some ways his stablemate Daryz is on a revenge mission against this year’s Ballydoyle big gun, Delacroix.

This race is invariably a must-see and it promises to be so again and, in fairness, Delacroix, Ombudsman and Japan’s Danon Decile are rivals far in excess of anything Daryz has met so far.

Unraced at two, the Francis-Henri Graffard-trained Sea The Stars colt is four from four so far this year, most recently stepping up to Group Two company to beat Bay City Roller.

The bare form is not near the level required here, of course, but the way he really began to motor when they started sprinting at Saint-Cloud off a steady pace was seriously taking.
