Celebrations as solar panel firm wins big contract
The Journal
|April 21, 2025
NORTH East solar power installation company is celebrating one of its largest projects after winning a contract to supply solar panels to the Komatsu plant at Birtley.
AR Power will fit almost 4,000 panels on the roof of Komatsu's North East site, generating an estimated 1.6 million kWh of electricity each year and reducing the factory's carbon emissions by 8.75m kilgrammes.
The project aligns with Komatsu's global sustainability goals and the region's push for more renewable energy sources, as well as bringing together two North East firms.
The installation process began at the beginning of the year and is expected to be completed by July.
