DURHAM get some respite from the threat of County Championship relegation as the Metro Bank One Day Cup gets underway today.

Campbell putting his faith in youth

Second bottom in the Division One table after last week’s home loss to Surrey, Ryan Campbell's side are 12 points adrift of safety, with three more counties a further three points above.

With three games remaining, all against others in the relegation mix, Durham's fate is in their own hands.

While they also have a T20 Blast quarterfinal against Hampshire on September 5 to come, today they take on Sussex Sharks at South Northumberland from 11am.

Campbell said: “The One Day competition probably comes at the perfect time for us, where we can just sit back and take a breath from the County Championship.
