A PROPOSAL to construct 70 new homes has been turned down after locals warned their village is being “bombarded” by developers.

Councillors threw out plans by Gleeson Homes to erect the properties in Leeholme, County Durham, after substantial opposition ~ despite a council recommendation to give the green light.
