A new beginning for Newbiggin as rail line promised

LEADERS of Northumberland County Council have confirmed they are "committed" to extending the Northumberland Line to Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.
The railway has been a success story for the council since the first stations reopened last December, leading to ambitions for more towns to benefit.
At Wednesday's meeting of the county council, deputy leader Coun Richard Wearmouth presented the annual report on regeneration across the county.
It included a section on the Northumberland Line, which highlighted ongoing feasibility work on 'Northumberland Line phase 2' that included extending the line to destinations "such as Newbiggin".
