Kerala to be renamed as Keralam

The Union Cabinet has cleared a proposal to officially rename Kerala as “Keralam.”
This marks a politically significant decision that comes months before Assembly elections in the State and revives a longstanding demand to restore what supporters call its original cultural and linguistic name.The move follows a renewed push by the state government after the Kerala Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution in June 2024 seeking the change.
