Harsha questions move to bring in outsider as AG

SJB Colombo District MP and Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance, Dr. Harsha de Silva, yesterday questioned the government over its failure to appoint the most senior officer as the new Auditor General.
Dr. de Silva stated that although the Speaker had indicated on Tuesday that a decision regarding the appointment would be finalized, no decision had been reached.
Dr. de Silva alleged that the government appeared to be attempting to appoint an external candidate to the position, despite the availability of the most senior official, currently serving in the Auditor General's Department.
