CPC's response to The Island report on bonus payment, etc.

Apropos 'NPP in bonus muddle: FM circular violated, Rs 4 bn paid to CPC workers' carried on Dec 31, 2024 edition of The Island, following an inquiry held at the Sri Lanka Press Council (SLPC) on June 6, 2025 and July 9, 2025, the CPC sent us the following statement: “The amount actually paid is not as exorbitant as claimed.

The actual sum paid was Rs 172.83 mn. That payment was made on the approval of the Board of Directors in terms of the prevailing rules and regulations.
Contrary to the claim that the price of a litre of Octane 92 had been reduced by only Rs. 2 during Sept to Dec 31, 2024 period, the actual reduction was Rs 23.
